Red Star, in collaboration with the University of Dundee, has pioneered an AI approach to heart failure treatment using. Led by Dr. Ify Mordi and Dr. Mya Win from Dundee’s School of Medicine, the project harnesses AI to analyse large volumes of medical data, including echocardiograms, to identify patients who may benefit from updated, personalized treatments.
Heart failure affects up to a million people in the UK, many of whom remain on outdated treatment plans. By using AI, Red Star’s system can efficiently scan health records and “echo reports” to suggest modern therapies that improve patients’ quality of life and reduce the risk of hospital admissions.
The AI-driven platform not only identifies patients at risk but ensures they receive care aligned with the latest heart failure guidelines. By reducing the administrative burden on clinicians and automating treatment audits, the system allows healthcare professionals to focus more on patient care. This innovative approach has the potential to transform heart failure care, driving better patient outcomes at scale.
This important achievement was extensively covered by the press including The Scotsman, The Herald, Daily Express, The Sun, Metro, The Courier, BBC and many others.
